The Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, Hon. Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, has outlined completed and ongoing development projects in the constituency as part of activities marking his first year in office.
Addressing the media at a press briefing in Hohoe on Wednesday, the MP said the update was in fulfilment of his commitment to accountability and transparency to the people who entrusted him with their mandate.
On education, Hon. Tsekpo announced the reinstatement of the Teachers’ Prize to motivate hardworking teachers in the constituency. He disclosed that awards were presented in 2025 and assured that an expanded version of the scheme would be organised in 2026.
He further revealed that 15 students from the constituency are currently benefiting from the GETFund scholarship, while 87 others are supported under the MP’s Scholarship Scheme. According to him, a total of GHS 200,000 was spent on the scheme in 2025, with a budget of GHS 500,000 allocated for 2026.
The MP also announced plans to construct 12-unit classroom blocks in selected basic schools and upgrade some senior high schools in the constituency. He said the projects are expected to commence in February 2026.
In the agricultural sector, Hon. Tsekpo highlighted the introduction of the “Agric for All” initiative, through which tractors, fertilizers, maize seeds, and rice seedlings are distributed to farmers across all traditional areas to boost productivity. He also noted that funds have been allocated to support businesswomen as part of efforts to promote local entrepreneurship.
On infrastructure, the MP said work on the Eastern Corridor Road is ongoing, while several roads within Hohoe township and surrounding communities are under construction, with contracts awarded to Rollider Construction and other firms.
Touching on health, Hon. Tsekpo announced the construction of CHPS compounds and nurses’ quarters at Avega and Wegbe, as well as ongoing processes to equip the Volta Regional Hospital to enhance its capacity. He also unveiled plans to introduce Nurses and Health Workers Awards to recognise outstanding service.
The Hohoe MP concluded by reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development, pledging continued engagement with constituents as he works to deliver on his promises.
