2025 BECE: Ayawaso East And Central Parents Confident Candidates Will Pass

A total of 1,196 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Ayawaso East Municipality.

According to the Municipal Director of Education, Dr. William Tsekpo, the candidates comprises of 536 males and 660 females across the five centers in the municipality thus, Nima and Kanda cluster of schools, St. Kizito and the Lutheran School.

Dr. Tsekpo expressed confidence in the preparedness of the students, saying they had undergone series of mock examinations, subject-specific interactions and remedial sessions to address any academic gaps ahead of the exams.

“Last year, we recorded a 93% pass rate, and this year, we are trusting our students to achieve a 100% pass,” he stated.

Students have been advised to stay calm and confident throughout the examination period. In addition, invigilators and supervisors have been cautioned to remain vigilant and ensure that the integrity of the examination is maintained by preventing the use of foreign materials and ensuring all candidates work independently.

Dr. Tsekpo commended the efforts of teachers and parents in preparing the students and urged all stakeholders to support the candidates throughout the examination period.

AYAWASO CENTRAL CENTER

At the Kotobabi examination centre in Ayawaso Central Municipality, 156 candidates from four different schools are participating in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The supervisor at the centre, Mr. Benoni Acquah, confirmed that all registered candidates were present and actively taking the exam.

“So far, everything has gone on smoothly,” Mr. Acquah reported. “We were actually expecting the question papers before 9:00 a.m., but they arrived exactly at 9:00, so we began the exams around 9:20 a.m.”

He dismissed any concerns about the slight delay, explaining that it would not affect the candidates’ performance. “The first paper, Social Studies, is a one-hour, 45-minute paper—one hour for the Section B (subjective) and 45 minutes for the objective section. As we speak, the candidates have completed the subjective part and are now tackling the objective. The full time allocation will be exhausted as planned. There’s no cause for worry.”

The nationwide BECE is a key milestone for junior high school students across Ghana, determining their placement into senior high schools.

AYAWASO EAST PTA PRAISE PARENTS

Meanwhile the chairperson of the  Parent-Teacher Association  for  the Ayawaso East  Municipality, Chief Inspector Richard Amemor, has commended the  effort of parents in the area in preparing candidates for the Examination (BECE).

Speaking at Kanda cluster where examination is ongoing, Chief Inspector Amemor highlighted the critical role of parents in reinforcing the guidance provided by teachers.

“As parents, we took it upon ourselves to go around and encourage our children to strictly adhere to the instructions given by their teachers. Everything they’ve been taught is exactly what will reflect in the exams. We urged them not to disregard or challenge their teachers but to humbly follow directions”, he revealed.

He emphasized that parents also urged the students to eschew fear and put in their maximum effort.

“We have invested so much in them, and we’ve made it clear that they must not disappoint us. Thankfully, the children accepted the advice wholeheartedly”, he stressed.

In collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive and the area’s Member of Parliament, learning materials were provided to help the students prepare adequately.

“With their support, we were able to provide essential resources, including mathematics sets, to help the students write their exams with confidence.”

Chief Inspector Richard expressed optimism about the outcome of the exams.

“We have no doubt whatsoever. We are confident of achieving a 100% pass rate. As the Ayawaso Municipal Assembly Education team, we are good to go”, he emphasized.
