Dancehall artiste and businessman Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH₵100 million defamation suit against social commentator Abubakar Ahmed, widely known as Blakk Rasta, at the High Court in Accra.
The suit arises from a video posted on Blakk Empire Media’s social media platforms on December 15, 2025, titled “Shatta Wale, self-confessed king of fraud.” According to the statement of claim, Shatta Wale contends that the comments made in the video were false, malicious and calculated to damage his reputation.
In the writ of summons, the plaintiff argues that the video attracted significant public attention within 24 hours of its publication, recording over 150,000 views on Facebook and more than 27,000 views on YouTube, alongside thousands of comments and reactions. He maintains that the statements portrayed him as a fraudster, thief and morally reprehensible person, allegations he strongly denies.
Shatta Wale further states that the defendant alleged he associates with known fraudsters and allows stolen funds to pass through his bank accounts, claims the musician says are baseless and defamatory. He asserts that the publication has caused him reputational harm, anxiety among his family, fans and business partners, and damage to his career as a public figure.
The plaintiff is seeking a declaration that the statements are defamatory, an order compelling Blakk Rasta to permanently remove the video and related content from all social media platforms, and an injunction restraining him from making further defamatory publications.
Shatta Wale is also asking the court to order a public retraction and an unqualified apology to be published on the defendant’s social media pages and in full-page publications in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times and Graphic ShowBiz. Additionally, he is claiming GH₵100 million in damages, along with costs.
The case has been filed at the High Court, Accra, and the defendant has been directed to enter an appearance within the stipulated time under the rules of court.
