NPP presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has engaged party delegates in the Kusaug traditional area through a virtual meeting after security concerns prevented a physical visit to the area.
The engagement involved delegates from Tempane, Garu, Zebilla, Binduri and Pusuga. Sources say Agyapong’s planned visit to the Kusaug area was initially approved by security authorities but later revoked due to prevailing security concerns.
As a result, the NPP flagbearer hopeful opted to interact with delegates via Zoom from the Bazua Pentecost Church in the Binduri District.
During the virtual engagement, Mr Agyapong criticised former Vice President and presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of dishonesty and questioning his credibility to lead the country. He said the people of Bawku and Ghanaians at large could not entrust power to a leader they could not trust.
Mr Agyapong reiterated his commitment to peace, national unity and inclusive leadership, urging delegates to support his bid in the upcoming party election.
“Ghana needs a leader like me to move the country forward,” he said. “I stand for peace, not tribal politics. Engage with me, give me your support on the 31st, and I will deliver.”
Deputy campaign coordinator, Charles Aboyela, also criticised a recent visit by Bryan Acheampong to the Kusaug traditional area, alleging that it was undertaken without proper security clearance or consultation with the Overlord of Bawku.
Meanwhile, the Binduri Constituency Coordinator for Kennedy Agyapong, Lucas Anaba, appealed to all delegates in the area to endorse the NPP aspirant, describing him as a visionary leader capable of transforming Ghana.
The virtual engagement forms part of Kennedy Agyapong’s broader campaign strategy to connect with delegates in the Kusaug zone of the Upper East Region, excluding Bawku Central.
