President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Dubai to participate in the 2026 World Governments Summit, a major global forum focused on shaping the future of governance and public policy.
The President arrived in the early hours of Monday, February 2, and was received by the United Arab Emirates Minister of State, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan.
President Mahama departed Accra aboard an aircraft provided by the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The aircraft conveyed the Ghanaian leader from Accra to Dubai and is scheduled to continue to Lusaka after the summit.
The 2026 World Governments Summit is being held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments”and brings together heads of state, policymakers, international organisations, thought leaders, and private sector leaders from around the world. The summit serves as a platform for strengthening international cooperation, sharing innovative ideas, and addressing pressing global challenges.
Discussions at the summit are structured around five core pillars: global governance and effective leadership; societal wellbeing and capacity building; economic prosperity and emerging opportunities; urban futures and evolving demographics; and future realities and next frontiers.
The summit is taking place at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai and is expected to influence key policy directions and innovations that will define future societies. Participants include several world leaders such as the Presidents of Sierra Leone, Ecuador, Switzerland, Spain, as well as senior officials from international bodies including the International Monetary Fund and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s commitment to global dialogue on governance, innovation, and sustainable development.
