The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its 2026 presidential primaries, with the process set to close on August 28, 2025.
Interested aspirants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of GHS100,000.
Announcing the move on Tuesday, July 29, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong said the primaries will be held on January 31, 2026.
The party is expected to hold its Presidential Primaries on the 31st January, 2026 as part of efforts to reorganize the party following a devastating loss in the 2024 elections.
Despite some opposition from some quarters of the party to hasten slowly with the organization of the presidential primaries but the National Council which has been clothed with the powers to take such decisions, insists it should go on.
Announcing the opening of nominations at a press conference, General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua disclosed that the new electoral college following the amendment of the party’s constitution will be used for the Presidential Primaries.
