Cameroon’s LTV made a strong statement at the start of their campaign in the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship, defeating Nigeria’s VPC 3-1 in their Pool D opener on Monday.
LTV delivered a dominant performance in the first set, overwhelming their opponents with sharp attacking play and disciplined teamwork to secure a commanding 25-6 win. Their powerful serves and quick transitions left VPC struggling to settle early in the match.
The second set proved more competitive, with VPC showing signs of improvement and pushing LTV for much of the contest. However, LTV maintained composure at key moments, edging the set 25-22 to take a firm grip on the match.
VPC responded strongly in the third set, raising their level with better defensive organisation and more effective attacking options. Their resilience paid off as they claimed the set 25-19, reducing the deficit and briefly shifting momentum in their favour.
But LTV quickly regained control in the fourth set, combining experience with efficiency to close out the match. They pulled away convincingly to win 25-13, sealing a deserved 3-1 victory.
The result gives LTV a positive start in Pool D as they look to build momentum in the tournament. Despite the defeat, VPC showed glimpses of quality, particularly in the third set, and will aim to bounce back in their remaining fixtures.
