Kalibi SC Volleyball team confident of victory in club championship in Burkina Faso

Ghana’s representatives at this year’s West Africa Volleyball Club Championship scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso are confident of returning to the country as the winners of the competition.

The male and female teams of Kalibi SC Volleyball team who are set to leave Ghana on Sunday ahead of the competition which starts later next week, say despite the limited investment in the game in Ghana, they will give off their best in winning the competition.

President of the team, Bernard Mornah while speaking to the media at the last preparatory training for the team on Saturday bemoaned the low investment in Volleyball and called on corporate organizations to consider putting their money in the game.

”As we prepare to leave, the only support we are getting is from BOST, GoldBod and other individuals who believe in the team and that is not good considering the immense benefit this sport has for Ghana”, he said.

‘Now we have a lot of young people we are taking off the streets to engage them through this sport and if we consider the national security benefits, I will encourage Ghanaians to especially the government to invest in it”, Mr.. Mornah stressed.

Touching on the chances of the team at the Club Championships, Mr. Mornah said, ”we have beaten the police ladies, the army and the wing ladies, this shows how strong we are and how prepared the team is. I have told them, I will only be with them if they qualify for he semi-finals. so they know the assignment’.

A representative of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation who came to encourage the team ahead of their departure, Horen Quashigah urged the team to give off their best in order to make Ghana proud. He assured them of government’s commitment to developing and investing in other sports disciplines.
