Ibrahim Mahama flies 10-year-old Leukaemia patient to South Africa for over $110,000 treatment

In a heartwarming act of generosity and compassion, renowned Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has once again demonstrated his commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.

This time, his act of kindness is focused on little Lisa Laryea, a 10-year-old student whose battle with the critical health condition leukaemia has touched the hearts of many, especially on social media.

Subsequently, after footing a bill of over $110,000 cost for the treatment, Mr Ibrahim Mahama has personally ensured that Lisa, accompanied by her mother was flown to South Africa via an emergency charted Air Ambulance on Sunday, November 24, 2024, to seek specialized care that would give her a fighting chance at recovery.

Mr Ibrahim Mahama was present at the Kotoka International Airport Terminal 2 to ensure the smooth process of their medical journey.

The cost of the entire treatment is estimated at around 2 million South African Rand, or USD 110,000.

Special Aide to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Rafik Mahama said, “When we learned about Lisa’s condition on social media, we knew we had to step in and help. Every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and happy life. When it comes to saving human life, our Father and Boss, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama doesn’t consider the cost.

“He has unlimited empathy towards humanity. He gives the instructions to everyone and we work to make sure we get the job done properly. Because the flight was a 6 am scheduled chartered flight, I got to the Ridge Hospital at 3 am today, we wanted to make sure we get everything done properly, with regards to conveying Lisa from the hospital to the airport. The Doctors are on standby in South Africa. By God’s grace, Lisa ll come back stronger.

For Melissa’s family, this act of kindness has been nothing short of a miracle.

The young girl’s mother, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed her deep gratitude to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.

“We never imagined that someone of his stature would care so deeply about our daughter’s health. He has given Melissa the gift of hope, and we will be forever grateful.”

The act of flying 10-year-old Lisa overseas for the urgent medical treatment she needs has not only provided a glimmer of hope for the family but has also stirred a wave of support and commendation by a cross-section of Ghanaians.

As little Lisa embarks on her journey to healing, Ibrahim Mahama’s remarkable generosity continues to serve as a beacon of compassion, reminding us all that acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, can create ripples of positive change in society.
