Ghana Police Sports Directorate showcases excellence at WASA exhibition

The Sports Directorate of the Ghana Police Service showcased its achievements at the WASA exhibition, drawing significant attention from stakeholders within the security services and the general public.

The exhibition was attended by the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), and other distinguished guests, highlighting the importance of the event.

The occasion was further enlivened by the presence of renowned Ghanaian musicians, including Kojo Antwi, Piesie Esther, Obaapa Christy, the Tagoe Sisters and Akosua Agyapong.

Director of Sports, ASP Bernice Timbilla, led the President and a high-level delegation through an impressive display of the Directorate’s accomplishments over the years, reflecting its steady growth and development.

The exhibition featured medals, trophies and awards won by various Police sports teams, showcasing their success in local and international competitions across multiple sporting disciplines.

Particular attention was drawn to recent honours from the Eva Atta Mills Memorial Tournament, underscoring the Directorate’s growing prominence in hockey and its expanding community sports initiatives.

ASP Timbilla also briefed the President on the role of sports within the Ghana Police Service, noting its contribution to discipline, wellness, teamwork and national representation through Police athletes.

The President commended the Sports Directorate for its professionalism and achievements, noting that its participation in the WASA exhibition reflected strong leadership, institutional pride and the Directorate’s ongoing transformation.
