The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with its Eastern Regional Chairman, Comrade Semefa Mawutor, following a devastating fire outbreak that caused extensive damage to his residence and other properties.
In an internal memo dated Monday, January 19, 2026, and signed by the General Secretary, the party described the incident as an unbearable tragedy that resulted in incalculable losses, including vehicles and other valuable belongings.
The party disclosed that the Welfare Committee has been directed to act immediately to support the affected chairman and help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
According to the memo, the incident comes at a particularly difficult time for the party, as members are already under various pressures due to ongoing reorganisation efforts nationwide.
The CPP noted that regional chairmen carry significant responsibilities as leaders and custodians of the party’s structures, making the incident a double burden for the Eastern Regional Chairman.
The Chairperson and Leader of the CPP, Senior Comrade Wing Commander Patrick Nelson Sogbodjor, together with the entire leadership and membership of the party, conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Comrade Mawutor.
The party described the period as a trying moment for the Eastern Regional CPP and its Welfare Committee, calling on members to demonstrate unity and comradeship.
The statement further urged all members to come together to strengthen the party’s welfare systems to ensure the well-being of all comrades, in line with the party’s social mandate under Article 55(3) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
