Oheneyere Gifty Anti receives Head of State Legacy Award

Celebrated Ghanaian broadcaster and gender advocate Oheneyere Gifty Anti has been honoured with the 2026 Head of State Legacy Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to media and social transformation.

The prestigious award was presented at a state ceremony in Accra on April 1, acknowledging her more than three decades of dedication to media excellence, women’s empowerment, and advocacy across the African continent.

Widely known for her flagship television programme The Standpoint, Gifty Anti has built a reputation for addressing sensitive social issues and amplifying the voices of women and vulnerable groups. The award citation praised her for using her platform to mentor young women, challenge societal norms, and promote gender equality.

Speaking after receiving the honour, she described the recognition as a reflection of persistence and purpose.

“This honour is a testament to the power of persistence and the importance of telling our own stories,” she said. “I dedicate this to every girl who has been told her dreams are too big. We are just getting started.”

The latest recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for the veteran journalist, including her recent inclusion in the Africa’s Phenomenal 50 list, IWD 2025 edition by ICS Africa. Observers say the award further cements her status as one of Africa’s most influential female media figures.

Beyond broadcasting, Gifty Anti is the Chief Executive Officer of GDA Concepts and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping conversations around gender and development in Ghana and beyond.
