Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Cassiel Ato Forson, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Paramount Chief of the Enyanmaim Traditional Area, Okofo Amoako Bondam III, describing him as a కీల figure in his personal and political life.
Mr. Forson made the remarks when he joined mourners at the funeral rites of the late chief at Enyanmaim, where a large gathering of traditional leaders, politicians, and community members assembled to honour the deceased.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Finance Minister said the late chief played a pivotal advisory role throughout his political journey since he entered Parliament in 2007. He credited Okofo Amoako Bondam III’s guidance and encouragement for shaping his growth into a four-term legislator and his eventual appointment as Finance Minister.
“He will forever remain in my heart. His words of encouragement, guidance, and coaching have brought me this far,” Mr. Forson stated, adding that the late chief was like a father to him.
He also recounted a memorable moment when the late chief introduced him to former President John Dramani Mahama at a political rally in Enyanmaim, urging the then President to mentor him for a future role in Ghana’s economic leadership.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Mr. Forson, was present in full force, with party executives from both national and constituency levels attending the funeral. The party also made a financial donation to support the bereaved family and pledged continued assistance.
The funeral attracted several high-profile dignitaries, including members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Paramount Chiefs from across the Central Region, and key government officials.
Among the attendees were Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, government officials, district authorities, and representatives from various institutions, all of whom joined the Enyanmaim Traditional Area in mourning the loss of a revered traditional leader.
The late Okofo Amoako Bondam III is remembered for his leadership, counsel, and significant contributions to both traditional governance and political development in the area.
