The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, has met and interacted with survivors of the recent terrorist attack on Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso, assuring them of government support and solidarity.
The minister engaged the affected traders during a meeting in Bolgatanga, following disturbing reports of an ആക്രമ on a truck transporting tomato traders from Ghana to neighbouring Burkina Faso.
Mr. Atanga expressed deep concern over the incident and conveyed the sympathies of the Government of Ghana to the victims and their families. He commended the traders for their courage and resilience in the face of the traumatic experience and encouraged them to remain hopeful as authorities work to address the situation.
“This unfortunate incident has deeply affected us all. Government stands with you during this difficult time and will ensure that the necessary support is provided to aid your recovery,” he said.
The Regional Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council to collaborate closely with national authorities and the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso to facilitate assistance for the victims and ensure their safety.
He added that government remains committed to protecting the welfare of Ghanaian traders operating across borders and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to strengthen security and support systems.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by authorities to comfort affected citizens and coordinate interventions following the attack, which has raised concerns about the safety of traders operating within the sub-region.
