The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has suspended its nationwide strike following the release of funds by government to settle some outstanding entitlements owed members.
In a memorandum dated February 14, 2026 and signed by National President Maxwell Bunu and National Secretary Fidelis Kamaayi, the association announced that the decision was taken unanimously by its National Council after a meeting held earlier in the day.
According to the statement, the suspension follows government action to facilitate payment of several arrears, including year-round work compensation, the 2023/2024 book and research allowance arrears, and the 2022 research top-up allowance for Akrokeri College of Education.
CETAG described the development as a significant step toward addressing its longstanding concerns, although it noted that two additional issues remain unresolved and are currently before the National Labour Commission for adjudication.
The association has therefore directed all members to resume academic activities and return to lecture halls on Monday, February 16, 2026.
CETAG also thanked its members for their solidarity and patience throughout the strike period and urged them to remain united as leadership continues engagements with stakeholders to ensure the full resolution of outstanding matters.
