The Presiding Member of the La Dadekotopong Municipal Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Nyarko Baah, has declared his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party’s ongoing presidential race, citing long-term party investment and continuity.
Speaking after casting his vote, Hon. Nyarko Baah said the NPP has spent several years building and marketing Dr. Bawumia as its presidential candidate, making it unnecessary to restart the process with a new contender.
According to him, the party has consistently projected Dr. Bawumia since 2008, and changing course at this stage would require significant time and effort to market another candidate.
“Well, I’m voting for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. For years we marketed him since 2008 up to now. We don’t need to go back and look for another candidate to vote for. That will take us a long time to market the person as it is now,” he stated.
Hon. Nyarko Baah stressed that Dr. Bawumia remains the most widely marketed and recognized candidate within the party, adding that he enjoys broad support among party members.
He expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to lead the NPP and secure victory in the next general election, noting that the Vice President is the candidate the party has collectively championed over the years.
“We believe in him that he will win and win the general election for the New Patriotic Party,” he added.
The voting exercise, which is strictly an internal party process, is being contested by five aspirants: former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong; Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary and Presidential Press Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
