Voting is currently underway across the Eastern Region, with a total of 21,843 delegates expected to cast their ballots in the ongoing exercise.
In the New Juaben South Constituency, voting is taking place at Polling Stations “A” and “B” located at the Koforidua SECTECH. As of 8:00am, Polling Station A, which has 558 registered delegates, had recorded 40 votes cast. At Polling Station B, 43 out of the 516 registered delegates had voted as at 8:05am.
The process at the centre has so far been peaceful and orderly, with no incidents reported. The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, was yet to cast his vote at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, voting is also ongoing in the Abuakwa South Constituency at the M/A Experimental School in Kibi. The exercise there has similarly been calm, with delegates casting their ballots without any disruptions.
The constituency is the home of former Member of Parliament, Hon. Atta Akyea, who has been a controversial figure during the campaign. However, he had not shown up at the polling station as at the time this report was filed.
Speaking on the conduct of the exercise, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Owusu Bempah, expressed cautious optimism about a peaceful outcome. He indicated that security personnel remain on high alert and are closely monitoring developments across the region to ensure the polls remain incident-free.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order as voting continues across all designated centres in the Eastern Region.
