Bole DCE inspects 1D1F groundnut oil factory site

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole, Abdulai Mahmud, has inspected the One District One Factory (1D1F) groundnut oil processing facility currently under installation, describing the project as a major economic boost for the district.

The factory, being developed by West Africa Agro-Tech Company (WAATCO) Ghana Limited under the government’s flagship 1D1F initiative, is designed to add value to the Savannah Region’s abundant groundnut production. During the visit, engineers were seen installing modern extraction, refining, packaging and auxiliary systems ahead of full-scale operations.

When operational, the facility is expected to reduce post-harvest losses, create employment opportunities—particularly for the youth—and help cut Ghana’s reliance on imported edible oils through the local production of premium “Grandnut” groundnut oil. The plant is also projected to explore value-added by-products from other crops in the future.

Mr. Mahmud toured the site, interacted with technicians and staff, and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work. He described the factory as a “game-changer” for the local economy, noting that it would empower farmers, stimulate agribusiness growth and improve livelihoods across the district.

“This project will not only create jobs but also provide a ready market for our farmers’ produce,” the DCE said, assuring the company of the assembly’s full support to ensure the factory becomes operational as soon as possible.

A representative of WAATCO Ghana Limited confirmed that construction and installation works were progressing according to schedule, adding that the facility is being equipped to meet high hygiene and efficiency standards. The company, which specializes in agro-technology solutions, is working closely with local stakeholders to ensure the factory meets both national and international quality benchmarks.

The inspection forms part of the district’s broader efforts to support industrialisation and private-sector-led development under the 1D1F programme.
