Bataglia education scheme supports 291 students in Sissala East

The Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS) has disbursed financial assistance to 291 students drawn from tertiary, technical and vocational institutions across the Sissala East Constituency, in a move aimed at strengthening access to education and long-term human capital development.

The support package, which ranged from GH₵1,000 to GH₵3,000 per beneficiary, was awarded based on academic performance and demonstrated financial need. Beneficiaries expressed optimism that the assistance would ease the financial burden of their studies and enable them to focus more effectively on their academic pursuits.

Now formally registered as a Foundation, BESS is transitioning from a one-off support initiative into a structured and permanent educational investment framework. The scheme prioritises education as a critical driver of development within the constituency.

In a statement highlighting the significance of the disbursement, Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Mr Issah Mohammed Bataglia, said the scheme represents a deliberate and sustained commitment to education rather than a short-term intervention.

“The Bataglia Educational Support Scheme is not an event to be consumed and forgotten. It is a framework designed to be strengthened, expanded and refined in service of Sissala East,” he stated.

Mr Bataglia noted that the programme exceeded expectations in both organisation and turnout, commending contributors, board members and the selection committee for ensuring transparency, fairness and integrity throughout the process.

He urged beneficiary students to take their studies seriously, emphasising that education remains the most reliable pathway to personal advancement and community development.

Reaffirming his commitment to the initiative, the MP said continuous investment in education would help build a stronger and more resilient Sissala East for future generations.

Parents, guardians and residents of the constituency were also commended for their support, underscoring the collective effort required to empower young people through education.
