Ajomoro-Gwira ast to get three markets, 14 projects

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nzema East Municipality in the Western Region have assured chiefs and residents of accelerated development, with three major market centres, 14 projects and road works set to be commissioned within one year.

The MP, Hon. Arkoh Nokoe, said the projects form part of his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and living conditions across the constituency. He explained that the interventions would span key sectors, including education, health, security and sanitation.

According to him, the 14 projects include school buildings, market centres, police stations, boreholes, CHPS compounds, teachers’ and nurses’ bungalows, as well as road construction works, all expected to be completed and commissioned ahead of schedule.

Hon. Arkoh Nokoe further pledged to extend electricity to communities still without power and to address long-standing challenges in the constituency, stressing that he remains committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.

“I am the only MP given a second mandate to serve the good people of Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency, and I am grateful. I will not disappoint them,” he said, urging residents to continue believing in his leadership and that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

He also described the shortage of teachers in the constituency as “painful” and announced plans to offer full scholarships to students who enroll in Colleges of Education, as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning outcomes.

Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony for the projects at Kutukrom, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson, assured residents that the District Assemblies Common Fund would be judiciously utilised to ensure timely completion of the projects.

He pledged to prioritise development initiatives that would bring tangible improvements to the lives of residents, including the reshaping of deplorable roads to enhance transportation within the municipality.

“The National Democratic Congress, led by President John Dramani Mahama, will never disappoint the people of Nzema East Municipality,” the MCE stated, adding that his administration had already completed some inherited legacy projects.

He described himself as a development-oriented MCE determined to transform the municipality before the end of his tenure, and appealed to residents to retain Hon. Arkoh Nokoe as MP in the 2028 elections to enable him secure a ministerial position.

The Paramount Chief of the Gwira Traditional Area, Awulae Angamatu Agyan II, commended the MP and MCE for the sod-cutting ceremony and the scale of development planned for the area.

He noted that in his 30 years as chief, he had not witnessed such extensive development, except under the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama. The chief praised the government for fulfilling key promises, including the construction of the first community senior high school in the Gwira area.

He further urged residents to support Hon. Arkoh Nokoe for a third term in 2028, describing him as deserving of a ministerial appointment, and thanked President Mahama for including roads in the Gwira area under the Big Push Agenda.
