Man allegedly attacks father-in-law over marriage breakup

A 30-year-old man, identified as Kwabina Kwakwa, is on the run after allegedly attacking his father-in-law with a cutlass following a marriage breakup at Agona Bobikuma in the Agona West Municipal Assembly of the Central Region.

The incident, which has left the victim in critical condition, is believed to have stemmed from a prolonged marital dispute between the suspect and his wife. The misunderstanding reportedly escalated and drew in the wife’s relative, resulting in the violent confrontation.

Eyewitnesses told Channel 247 News’ Yaw Boagyan that the suspect inflicted severe injuries on the victim during the attack, sparking fear and panic within the community.

The injured man is currently receiving intensive medical care at an undisclosed health facility, while Kwabina Kwakwa reportedly fled the area immediately after the incident.

Police have since launched investigations into the matter and declared the suspect wanted. Authorities say efforts are underway to apprehend him to face the full rigours of the law.

Residents of Agona Bobikuma have expressed shock and concern over the incident, calling for calm as security agencies continue their investigations. Many locals have also urged families to adopt peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms to prevent domestic disagreements from escalating into violence.

No arrests have been made so far, but police say updates will be provided as investigations progress.
