The Presidency has announced the inauguration of a Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as part of government’s renewed efforts to restore macroeconomic stability, strengthen fiscal sustainability, and accelerate inclusive and job-rich economic growth.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the establishment of PAGE is anchored on the implementation of key national initiatives including the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and the broader Reset Agenda. The advisory body is expected to provide strategic direction to help navigate current economic challenges and position Ghana for long-term growth and resilience.
PAGE will serve as a high-level, independent and non-partisan advisory body to the President, offering expert guidance on macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and policy coherence between fiscal and monetary measures. The group will also advise on structural transformation, industrial development, competitiveness, export-led growth strategies, private-sector expansion, investment mobilisation, and sustainable job creation.
Additionally, the Group will support the design, sequencing and implementation of productivity-enhancing reforms, conduct periodic assessments of Ghana’s economic performance, and recommend policy adjustments where necessary. PAGE will further contribute expert input to Ghana’s engagements and negotiations with bilateral and multilateral development partners, international financial institutions, and investors.
The Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy will be chaired by President Mahama and comprises distinguished individuals from academia, public service and the private sector. Members include Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang; private sector leaders Mr. Ishmael Yamson, Mr. Kwame Pianim, Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, and Togbe Afede XIV; economists and former public officials Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and Dr. Henry A. Kofi Wampah; former deputy minister Ms. Nana Oye Mansa Yeboaa; agribusiness investor Mr. Ato Brown; Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Stock Exchange, Ms. Abena Amoah; and academics Prof. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour and Prof. Patience Aseweh Abor.
The Group will report directly to the President and submit advisory memoranda, briefs and periodic strategic reviews as and when requested.
The announcement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications.
