A campaign meeting in Nsawam-Adoagyire was abruptly disrupted after controversial religious remarks were allegedly made by Naa Torshie during an engagement with party delegates.
According to accounts from delegates present, Naa Torshie was addressing party members as part of her campaign activities when she made comments touching on religion and the 2028 presidential race. She reportedly questioned the electoral prospects of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and made statements that were interpreted by many in attendance as religiously intolerant.
The remarks immediately triggered discontent among delegates, who demanded that she retract the statements and apologise. However, she allegedly refused to withdraw the comments, leading to heightened tension at the venue.
As the situation escalated, party officials were forced to bring the meeting to an early end. Police officers were later called in to restore calm and escort Naa Torshie and her team out of the constituency to prevent further disturbances.
The incident has reignited concerns about the growing use of religious and tribal sentiments in Ghana’s political discourse. Some party supporters have since called on party leadership to caution all aspirants and campaigners against divisive rhetoric, warning that such politics could undermine national unity and peaceful coexistence.
