June 3 Disaster: Ghanaians Have Not Learnt Lessons- Construction Engineer

A construction engineer, Yusuf Buoda is worried Ghanaians have not learnt lessons from the devastation of the June 3 disaster that rocked the nation some 10 years ago. According to him, it is just a matter of time that a similar disaster happens again.

Mr. Bouda who is the Chief Executive Officer of NAS Construction Company Limited told Masopeh Jeremiah on News 247 on Channel247 opined that, the rate at which the capital floods each time it rains is a testament that people have not changed their ways in terms of putting up building.

”If you look at how there is always floods in Accra in the last three years, it tells you that we have not learnt lessons from the disaster and it is a matter of when and not even time that we witness another disaster similar to what we suffered on June 3, 2015”, he stressed.

He wants all stakeholders to work together in dealing with the causes of such incidents.

Touching on recent decongestion exercises being undertaken by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Bouda opined that the exercise will be meaningless if there are no measures to monitor the decongested areas.
