Government has paid an amount of Nine Hundred and Eighty-Seven Million, Nine Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand, seventy-Three Ghana Cedis(GHC987,965,073.00) from the Consolidated Fund into the District Assembly’s Common Fund as first quarter amount due it.
The government has also made payment of over Two Billion cedis( GHC2,033,469,607) to the National Health Insurance Fund and another over Two billion(GHC2,710,227,947,00) to the Ghana Education Trust Fund.
This was announced by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025 when he appeared before the lawmaking house.
According to him, the payment to the National Health Insurance Fund has enabled the scheme to settle arrears owed healthcare providers and to implement the Free Primary Healthcare and Ghana Medical Care Trust programme.
He disclosed that this is the first time in several years that statutory funds have been paid in full and promptly.
The amount paid to the Ghana Education Trust Fund is to enable the smooth running of the Free SHS program which is now under the GETFund.
