Nicki Minaj explains why she featured Davido on ‘If it’s okay’

American rapper Nicki Minaj has revealed the inspiration behind her collaboration with Davido on “If It’s Okay.”

Nicki shared that her vision for the song was to blend her signature hip-hop energy with the vibrant essence of Afrobeats. She believed Davido, with his catchy melodies and lyrical brilliance, was the perfect collaborator to bring that unique vibe to life.

Praising Davido as an exceptional writer and melody maker, Nicki expressed her delight in working with him, citing their mutual respect as a key factor in their creative synergy.

She revealed that she invited Davido to join the project to enhance its Afrobeat tempo and feel, making the track stand out.

“What drew you to Davido for the song ‘If It’s Okay’? In my opinion, he was an ideal choice for this incredible masterpiece! He was speaking that ish,” the user wrote.
She responded: “That man is an incredible writer & melody maker. It’s always a pleasure working with him b/c of our mutual respect for one another
“I asked him to be a part of it to bring out the Afro beats tempo/feeling in it a bit more. Nigeria to the world.”

The collaboration is part of Nicki’s latest release, “The Pinkprint (Tenth Anniversary Edition)”, which features four new tracks, including “If It’s Okay” with Davido and David Guetta.
