We Are Keen On Fulfilling Our Promises To The Region-Volta NDC Pledges

During the 2024 general elections, the NDC leadership in the Volta region outlined 32 key promises to the people of the region. Some of these are: construction of a modern market in Aflao , establishment of fish harbor, landing sites and market complex with smoking, processing and storage facilities in towns such as Aflao and Sogakope, construction of the eastern corridor road from Tema through Asikuma to Hohoe and beyond, construction of the keta sea defense, dredging of the Volta lake and payment of full compensation to victims of the Akosombo and Kpong Dam spillage among others.

Six months after the swearing in of president John Dramani Mahama, the NDC leadership in the Volta region has once again promised on delivering on their key promises.

On Saturday, 19th July 2025, president John Dramani Mahama cut sod for the construction of the Blekusu coastal protection phase II project to ease the burden and pain caused by the devastating effects of tidal waves along the eastern shoreline communities.

In an exclusive interview with the NDC Volta regional chairman,  Mawutor Agbavitor, he explained that this is an indication that the party is kin on delivering on their key promises.

“I can say that we’re moving steadily. Barely seven months into office, the people of Ketu south are benefiting from this massive development that is the sea defense project comprising of a fish market and storage facility. Beyond that, the people of Ketu south are beneficiary of a huge market project that is the Aflao asigame to be built by the 30 million Chinese grant to be signed by the government”

He also assured that the Ho to Aflao road will be awarded by August 2025.

“ I can tell you on authority that by August 2025, contracts will be awarded to six constructors to begin the road from Asikuma all the way to Aflao”.

He further assured that the victims of the Akosombo and Kpong dam spillage will be compensated as part of president Mahama’s promise.

“President Mahama said that the victims of the Akosombo and Kpong dam spillage will be compensated and yes they will be compensated and the dredging of the Volta lake will also happen “.

Speaking about corruption and galamsey related activities, he assured that president Mahama will fight it to its core as he has already started with his own party members.

“Just last week, the president asked EOCO to investigate his national organizer and national vice chairman for galamsey. It can only take a brave president to take such measures “.

He described President Mahama as a man who keeps to his promises and asked that the people have full trust in him. He also assured that every part of the Volta region will benefit from their campaign promises.
