The Upper West Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hamid Saana, has led all 11 constituency youth organisers in the region to formally endorse Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.
The endorsement followed a meeting between Mr Saana and the regional youth leadership, where discussions focused on the future direction of the party and the role of young people in shaping its next chapter. The youth organisers said their decision reflects the collective voice and aspirations of the party’s youth across the Upper West Region.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Saana emphasised the importance of placing young people at the centre of national and party development, noting that the energy and ideas of the youth are critical to electoral success and effective governance. He said the youth leadership believes Dr Bawumia best understands the concerns of young party members and has demonstrated a clear vision for inclusive leadership.
According to him, the endorsement is not only a personal declaration of support by the youth organisers but also a representation of the broader sentiments of young party supporters within their respective constituencies.
The youth leaders described Dr Bawumia as a visionary, humble and unifying leader, adding that his record and ideas position him as the right candidate to lead the NPP into the next general elections. They further called on other party members who may hold differing views to rally behind what they described as the majority decision.
The Upper West youth organisers expressed confidence that an overwhelming victory for Dr Bawumia in the primaries would strengthen party unity and enhance its prospects in the 2028 general elections.
