Stop insulting elders online, Asiedu Nketia tells NDC youth

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has cautioned party youth against using social media platforms to insult elders and leaders within the party.

Speaking during his thank-you tour at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region, Mr. Nketia urged young members to exercise restraint and responsibility in their online engagements.

He acknowledged the growing influence of social media in political communication and mobilisation but stressed that it must not be used as a shield for disrespectful behaviour.

“Social media never forgets,” he warned, explaining that comments and insults shared online can resurface in the future, potentially damaging individual reputations and the image of the party.

Mr. Nketia therefore encouraged the youth to uphold the NDC’s core values by promoting unity, mutual respect and constructive dialogue rather than engaging in personal attacks against elders or fellow members.

Touching on electoral violence, the NDC Chairman maintained that such acts must not go unpunished. He said incidents of electoral violence, including those recorded in Kasoa, would not be overlooked and perpetrators must face the full rigours of the law.

“If we want to end electoral violence, then we must begin prosecutions from past incidents and stop covering up for people,” he stated.

According to him, accountability and justice remain critical to safeguarding Ghana’s democratic process and deterring future acts of violence.
