Releasing my book was therapeutic – Yvonne Nelson

Yvonne Nelson has opened up on the therapeutic benefits she had when she released her book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’.

The book’s release in June 2023 generated significant buzz, topping trends and sparking a nationwide discussion.

In an interview with JoyNews’ Nicholas Ekow Yamoah, Yvonne revealed that the book was a long-time passion project, not a sudden inspiration.

She shared that she had invested considerable time and effort into bringing her vision to life.

“It’s been a wonderful ride. It was something I was working on for like the longest time. Most people don’t know, they thought I just woke up one day and used a week to write the book. We all have difficulties in our lives and things that we don’t talk to anybody about. It’s been a big therapy for me releasing the book and there is so much more that I wanna share but let’s see what happens next,“ shesaid.

The book, I am not Yvonne Nelson captures events such as her relationship with rapper Sarkodie which led to an abortion that she regrets ever having, total dislike from the man who was supposed to be her father, an offer by the New Patriotic Party to contest parliamentary seat at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency and her undying quest to find her biological father – a situation which has caused a chink in her relationship with her mother.
