The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has suspended its planned nationwide strike following renewed engagements with the government over the payment of outstanding salary arrears.
The decision comes after assurances from government authorities on the implementation of a payment plan to address the arrears owed to judicial service staff. JUSAG said the suspension is intended to give room for the agreed measures to be executed without disrupting judicial services.
Announcing the decision, the association stated, “In view of the above, the planned strike has been suspended pending implementation of the payment plan by the Government.”
In a statement, the association noted that while it remains committed to defending the welfare of its members, it is also mindful of the need to ensure continuity within the justice delivery system. As a result, members have been directed to resume work as discussions continue.
JUSAG, however, cautioned that it will closely monitor the government’s actions and will not hesitate to revive the strike should there be any delay or failure in implementing the agreed payment plan.
The association expressed hope that the government will honor its commitments promptly to permanently resolve the matter.
