Mahama Ayariga empowers 20 Bawku youth with tricycles

Mahama Ayariga, Majority Leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has presented 20 Pragya motor tricycles to selected youth in the constituency under the Work and Pay Programme, as part of efforts to promote youth employment and economic empowerment.

The presentation ceremony was held at the MP’s residence in Bawku, where beneficiaries received the tricycles to support income-generating activities and ease the economic hardship caused by recurring conflicts in the area.

Presenting the items on behalf of the MP, the Bawku Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Awindago, said the initiative demonstrates Mr Ayariga’s commitment to practical interventions that boost the local economy and create sustainable livelihoods for young people.

He noted that the Work and Pay Programme is designed to reduce poverty by equipping youth with tools that enable them to be self-employed and financially independent.

Deputy Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Ibrahim Issah, disclosed that beneficiaries of the first batch will undergo an assessment process, which will inform the distribution of additional machines to more youth in the constituency. He added that the programme also targets skills development in areas such as tailoring, hairdressing, welding and other vocational trades.

Deputy Constituency Organiser Tangnaba Rauf expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and Mahama Ayariga for policies and initiatives aimed at empowering the youth of Bawku and improving living conditions in the area.

One of the beneficiaries, Muniru Winamteng, expressed gratitude to the MP, describing the support as timely and impactful. He said the tricycle would help him support his family and improve his livelihood, while appealing for the programme to be expanded to benefit more young people in Bawku.
