Kusaug overlord joins Eid prayers, calls for peace in Bawku

The Overlord of Kusaug joined Muslims in Bawku for Eid prayers, using the occasion to call for lasting peace, unity, and reconciliation in the conflict-prone municipality.

The celebration, which marked Eid al-Fitr, was observed in an atmosphere of calm and togetherness a notable departure from previous years when tensions and disruptions overshadowed the festivities. Residents and local observers attribute the peaceful turnout to ongoing mediation efforts that have helped restore a sense of order in the area.

Addressing the congregation after prayers, the Overlord offered prayers for forgiveness and blessings for the people of Bawku and the wider Kusaug area. He also prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives in past conflicts, asking for their admittance into Jannatul Firdaus.

He urged the youth and people of Kusaug to prioritise peace over division, stressing that unity is essential for the progress and future of the area. He emphasised that the well-being of generations yet unborn depends on the choices made today.

The Overlord also expressed gratitude to John Dramani Mahama and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for their roles in ongoing mediation efforts. He appealed to residents to support these initiatives by embracing reconciliation and working together for stability and development.

This year’s peaceful Eid celebration is being seen as a hopeful sign of progress in Bawku, with many residents expressing optimism that sustained dialogue and unity will lead to lasting peace in the municipality.
