Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has reportedly undergone a scheduled robotic assisted radical prostatectomy. This according to a statement signed by his wife, Professor Angela Ofori Atta was to deal with prostate cancer which the former minister has been battling for sometime now. The statement revealed that it was done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota on Friday June 13th, 2025.
Ken Ofori Atta was declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor on June 2, 2025. This action follows his failure to appear in person at the OSP’s headquarters by the stipulated deadline, violating an earlier agreement that saw his temporary removal from the wanted list.
The OSP had initially declared Mr. Ofori-Atta a “fugitive from justice” in February 2025, citing his repeated non-compliance with summons for questioning regarding multiple corruption allegations.
These probes include his involvement in contracts with Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML) for revenue assurance, issues surrounding the National Cathedral project, and other financial dealings during his tenure as Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024.
But in a statement announcing the success of the surgery, Professor Ofori chided the Special Prosecutor for putting her husband on Interpol’s Red Alert list at a time he is battling with an ailment.
She said, ”Kenneth has always been resilient. But this has been very difficult; with the OSP choosing
the period just before his surgery to declare a red alert on him”.
The statement indicated that, Ken Ofori Atta is doing all he can to be restored back to good health.
