I was not appointed to fold my arms – DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Hon. Andrews Kojo Duodu, has stated that he will not be an office-bound administrator but will remain actively engaged with the people and institutions within the district.

According to him, his role as the President’s representative goes beyond desk work, stressing that it is his responsibility to regularly visit communities, interact with residents, listen to their concerns and work to improve their living conditions.

In an interview with Channel 247 News, Hon. Duodu explained that he will consistently move around the district to monitor activities in government institutions and agencies under his jurisdiction.

“As long as I remain the District Chief Executive for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, I will make sure that all institutions in my district are well equipped,” he assured.

The DCE made these remarks after touring more than 22 government institutions across the district. The tour covered facilities in the health and education sectors, security agencies and the Ghana National Fire Service, giving him the opportunity to observe first-hand the challenges confronting these institutions.

He revealed that several of the facilities are grappling with inadequate staffing, insufficient infrastructure, abandoned and uncompleted projects, lack of medical and hospital equipment, dilapidated buildings requiring renovation, poor road access, lack of potable water, weak mobile network coverage, shortage of vehicles and other essential logistics.

Following the tour, Hon. Duodu said he has resolved to work closely with the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, to address the challenges identified.

“As District Chief Executive, I have now fully appreciated the difficulties facing government institutions in my district. I will do my best to address them,” he said.

“Our people should have confidence in my administration, that of the Member of Parliament, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, and President John Dramani Mahama. We are determined to deliver to their satisfaction without hindrance.”

The DCE reiterated that the exercise forms part of his commitment to hands-on leadership and effective supervision aimed at strengthening public institutions and improving service delivery in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
