Ho West DCE outlines projects and praises increased funding

The Ho West District Chief Executive, Francis Proffee Dussey, has outlined a range of completed and ongoing development projects in the district, while commending government for a significant increase in funding.

Speaking in an interview with Channel 247 TV correspondent Thywill Enam, Mr. Dussey said his first year in office has been marked by steady progress across key sectors, including infrastructure, health, education and road development.

He noted that several legacy projects inherited from the previous administration have now been completed. Among them are the District Chief Executive’s bungalow and the Tsito Town Council building, both brought from about 43 percent completion to full delivery.

The Avenui CHIPS compound, previously at 46 percent, and the Tsome CHIPS compound, which stood at 80 percent, have also been completed. In addition, the Abutia Town Council project has been finalised, while the District Assembly Hall has been renovated to meet modern standards.

On ongoing initiatives, the DCE highlighted continued investment in the health sector, including the completion of the Bakpe CHIPS compound, which is awaiting commissioning, and ongoing construction works at Bokovikope.

In education, a six-unit classroom block at Tsito Methodist School has been completed and is pending commissioning. Work is also progressing on another six-unit classroom block at Kpedze Islamic School, alongside a kindergarten facility at Dzolokpuita.

Road infrastructure remains a major focus, with key projects underway such as the Sokode–Abutia road, the Abutia–Juapong road, and dual carriageways from Asikuma to Tsito and Tsito to Sokode.

Mr. Dussey attributed the pace of development to increased government support, particularly the rise in the District Assemblies Common Fund allocation. He revealed that the district’s funding has jumped from GH₵260,000 to GH₵19 million.

According to him, the increase is unprecedented and is already making a significant impact on development efforts. He expressed confidence that the enhanced funding will accelerate growth and improve living conditions across the district.
