Government shuts AICC for urgent renovation works

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the temporary closure of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to allow for urgent renovation works aimed at improving the facility.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, March 27, 2026, the Ministry said the closure takes immediate effect as part of efforts to enhance safety standards and ensure the long-term functionality of the centre.

According to the statement, the renovation will focus on upgrading key infrastructure and modernising the facility to meet current international standards for conferences and events.

“The reopening date will be communicated to the general public in due course,” the Ministry stated, while apologising for any inconvenience the closure may cause to event organisers and the general public.

The AICC, located in Accra, remains one of Ghana’s premier venues for national and international events, hosting high-level government programmes, corporate functions and major public gatherings.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality public service and urged the public to direct any enquiries to its official contact lines.
