The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a warehouse fire that broke out at the Ghana Water Company Central Stores at Ashaiman Golf City in the early hours of Monday, January 19, 2026.
According to the GNFS, the fire occurred at an institutional warehouse, with a distress call received at about 12:18 a.m. Fire crews arrived at the scene seven minutes later, at 12:25 a.m., and immediately commenced firefighting operations. Two additional fire tenders from the Tema Metro and Industrial Area fire stations were deployed to reinforce the initial response.
The blaze was confined at 1:43 a.m., brought under control at 3:22 a.m., and fully extinguished by 3:50 a.m. The fire destroyed production materials and machine parts stored in Warehouse “D”.
Despite the damage, firefighters were able to salvage six workers’ quarters and two adjoining warehouses, identified as Warehouses “B” and “C”. No casualties were recorded.
The first responding crew was led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Samuel Darko, with operational supervision provided by Assistant Chief Fire Officer II (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, the Tema Regional Fire Officer; Divisional Officer II (DO II) Fiifi Oppong, Regional Operations Officer; and Divisional Officer II (DO II) Ebenezer Yenzu, Municipal Fire Officer for Tema Metro.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
