Education Ministry approves University of Ghana fees for 2025/2026

The Ministry of Education has officially approved the fees and charges for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year. This announcement follows a meeting held on January 8, 2026, between the Ministry, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and representatives of the University of Ghana.

According to the statement, the Academic Facility User Fee will remain at the 2024/2025 rate. Other approved fees include the Student Representative Council (SRC) dues of 50 Ghana cedis, the SRC Development Levy of 150 Ghana cedis, and the Graduate Students (GRASAG) Development Levy of 250 Ghana cedis.

Additionally, undergraduate students, including freshmen, are expected to pay a Telecel broadband levy of 122 Ghana cedis.

This fee is optional, and students have the right to opt out if they choose. A 75th Anniversary Levy of 100 Ghana cedis has also been approved for this academic year only.

The Deputy Minister for Education, Honorable Clement Abas Apaak, emphasized that these fees are specific to the University of Ghana and do not apply to other public tertiary institutions.

He also noted that a Fee Review Committee has been established to assess future fee adjustments for onward recommendation to Parliament.
