The Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency, Yusif Mahmud, has donated laboratory equipment to the Kpalugu Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) facility in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
The donation is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the facility to conduct basic laboratory tests and improve the quality of healthcare delivery for residents of Kpalugu and surrounding communities. Until now, patients often had to travel long distances to access laboratory services before receiving treatment.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Mahmud said the donation was informed by his personal visits to the facility, where he observed the challenges faced by healthcare workers and patients. He noted that the lack of laboratory services had delayed treatment and placed additional financial burdens on residents.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting healthcare delivery in the constituency, stressing that access to basic medical services remains a priority in his development agenda for Binduri.
The physician assistant in charge of the Kpalugu CHIPS facility, Paul Isaac, received the equipment on behalf of the facility and expressed appreciation to the MP for the timely intervention. He said the equipment would enable the centre to commence laboratory services and improve patient care.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Representative of the Kpalugu community, Azumah Jacob, thanked the MP for responding to the needs of the facility. He assured him of the community’s support and prayers as he continues to work for the development of the constituency.
The donation is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare in the Binduri District, as the MP reiterated his pledge to transform the area within his remaining three years in office.
