Bawumia expresses sympathy after Accra Newtown building collapse

Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic collapse of a building in Accra New Town, which has left several people dead, injured, and others trapped beneath the rubble.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the New Patriotic Party’s 2028 flagbearer conveyed his condolences to the affected families and called for urgent support for victims. He noted that he received the news with sadness and extended heartfelt sympathies to those who lost loved ones in the incident.

“I have received with sadness news of the tragic building collapse in Accra Newtown this afternoon. May the lives lost painfully rest in peace, and my deepest sympathy goes to the families,” he stated. He also expressed hope that those trapped would be rescued safely and that the injured would recover quickly.

Meanwhile, rescue operations are still ongoing as emergency personnel work tirelessly to reach individual believed to be trapped under the debris. Authorities have appealed to the public to stay away from the scene to allow for smooth and uninterrupted rescue efforts.

The cause of the collapse remains unknown, with officials expected to launch investigations to determine what led to the incident.
