Five selected schools from Antoa Township in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region have undertaken an educational visit to Accra, aimed at exposing students to national institutions and inspiring their academic and personal development.
The one-day familiarisation visit, held on Monday, March 16, 2026, was organised at the invitation of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong of the Ghana Armed Forces. The 50-member delegation included 40 students, five teachers, and five community representatives, led by the Asunahene of Antoa, Nana Sarkodie Dartey.
Participating schools included Antoa M/A Primary and Junior High School, CB Mensah SDA Junior High School, Adesina M/A Basic School, and Antoa United Primary.
As part of the visit, the delegation witnessed the ceremonial guard changing at Jubilee House before proceeding to the General Headquarters for an interactive session with the Chief of the Defence Staff. The session focused on motivating the students and strengthening the relationship between young citizens and the military.
Lt Gen Agyapong shared personal experiences and encouraged the students to remain disciplined in their studies, stressing that education remains the foundation for future success. He also urged them to uphold values such as respect, faith, and obedience to authority.
The students were later taken on a guided tour of the 153 Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment, where they learned about its role in national defence. The visit offered a rare opportunity for the pupils to observe military equipment firsthand, including experiencing rides in armoured vehicles and witnessing a silent drill display.
Speaking after the tour, Nana Sarkodie Dartey expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as a memorable and impactful experience for the students and the entire delegation.
He noted that the visit would leave a lasting impression on the pupils and inspire them to pursue their ambitions with renewed determination.
