The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Hon. Godwin Animli Dzogbazi-Dorani, has strongly denied allegations that he intimidated residents with the use of landguards, describing the claims as false, malicious and aimed at sabotaging his work.
Speaking in response to accusations by some residents of Adansi Akwanserem, the MP stated that he has never engaged landguards or harassed any individual within the constituency since assuming office.
“As the MP, I have devoted my time to addressing the challenges of the constituency and working towards its development. I have never engaged landguards, and no resident can claim I have intimidated or harassed them,” he said.
Hon. Dzogbazi-Dorani also rejected claims that he used his political position to seize land or interfere in land ownership matters, insisting that all related issues were handled peacefully and through mutual agreements.
“People are trying to destroy my name for nothing. I see these allegations as sabotage. Claims that I used my mandate to retrieve land are false and must be condemned. Everything was done peacefully with agreements,” he added.
The MP further dismissed allegations that he ordered the arrest of a mason working on the disputed land, stressing that he has never instructed the police to arrest anyone in connection with the matter. He called on the general public to disregard what he described as unfounded accusations being levelled against him.
The denial follows allegations by some residents of Adansi Akwanserem, who have accused the MP of intimidating them with landguards over a disputed one-plot piece of land allegedly bordering his residence. The residents claim the MP attempted to take over the land without proper documentation and defied directives from traditional authorities to stay away from the property.
A spokesperson for the residents, Mr. Stanley Owusu Afriyie, has warned that tensions could escalate if authorities fail to intervene. The residents have called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Ashanti Regional Police Command to investigate the matter and ensure peace in the community.
They have also demanded compensation for costs incurred in pursuing the dispute and cautioned that they may vote the MP out of office if the alleged intimidation continues.
Efforts to reach Hon. Godwin Animli Dzogbazi-Dorani for comment earlier were unsuccessful, but the MP has now publicly rejected all allegations, maintaining that they are baseless and intended to tarnish his reputation.
