Ablekuma North Re-run: Mornah Slams NPP Leadership, EC, And Security Agencies in Blistering Assessment

Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has launched a strong critique of Ghana’s political system, targeting the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Electoral Commission, and the country’s security agencies.

Speaking to channel247’s Masopeh Jeremiah, Mornah accused the NPP of lacking a clear strategic direction, describing the party’s recent decisions as reactive and ineffective. According to him, the NPP’s continued reliance on the same leadership that led them to past defeats reflects deep-rooted dysfunction within the party.

He also condemned the conduct of security agencies, particularly the police, for their inability to prevent violent incidents during the recent Ablekuma North Re-Run. He criticized the presence of armed individuals at polling stations and blamed the security apparatus for turning a blind eye to threats that undermined electoral peace.
Mornah was especially critical of the Electoral Commission, led by Jean Mensa, calling for her removal due to what he described as persistent administrative failures and a lack of credibility in managing elections.

Turning attention to the upcoming Akwatia by-election, the PNC flagbearer warned of growing tensions, citing reports of over 4,000 potential troublemakers being mobilized. He urged national security to act swiftly to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

Beyond specific elections, Mornah expressed concern over Ghana’s broader political framework, describing it as a “winner-takes-all” system that breeds political violence and marginalization of dissenting voices.
