Senegal’s Sococim (SOC) kept their qualification hopes alive at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship with a hard-fought straight-sets victory over Congo’s VCL in Pool B.
Despite the 3-0 scoreline, the encounter was anything but routine, as Sococim had to dig deep to overcome a determined VCL side in a contest marked by tactical discipline and late resistance.
Sococim set the tone early, combining effective transition play with consistent serving to unsettle their opponents. Their control of key phases allowed them to take the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-19, putting the Senegalese side firmly in command.
VCL, however, responded strongly in the third set, tightening their net defense and increasing pressure on Sococim’s reception. The Congolese side forced the set into extra points, threatening to extend the match in a tense finish.
But Sococim’s experience proved decisive. Showing composure under pressure, the Senegalese outfit edged the closely contested set 26-24 to seal the match and secure their second consecutive win in the group.
The result strengthens Sococim’s position in Pool B as they continue their push for a place in the knockout stages, while VCL are left to regroup ahead of their remaining fixtures.
