CFC sweep Kenya’s DCI to top Pool C

CFC delivered a commanding performance to secure top spot in Pool C after sweeping Kenya’s DCI 3-0 in their opening match of the African Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Cairo.

The contest began as a tightly contested affair, with DCI showcasing their trademark athleticism and resilience. The Kenyans applied early pressure with solid blocking and quick reactions at the net, unsettling the Tunisian side. They edged ahead late in the first set, leading 20-19, but CFC’s experience proved decisive. A series of improved serves forced reception errors, allowing CFC to snatch the set 25-22.

Buoyed by the breakthrough, CFC raised their level in the second set. Their setter orchestrated play with precision, consistently exposing gaps in DCI’s defense. Although DCI fought to stay within reach, their opponents’ attacking power and composure gave them the upper hand as CFC closed the set 25-19.

The third set saw complete dominance from the Tunisian side. CFC raced into an early 8-3 lead and never looked back, executing with confidence and efficiency. Their blocking stifled DCI’s attacks, while their spikes repeatedly found the floor. The set ended convincingly at 25-12, sealing a comprehensive straight-sets victory.

The result puts CFC in a strong position at the top of Pool C, while DCI will look to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
