KOD declares bid for AOB NPP vice chairmanship

Kobina Owusu Debrah (KOD), a banker and grassroots member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) Constituency, has officially declared his intention to contest for the party’s Vice Chairman position.

KOD, who hails from Breman Kokoso, says his decision to enter the race is driven by a desire to strengthen the party’s grassroots base and help reposition the NPP to recapture the parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement to party delegates, he pledged to champion innovation, inclusiveness and practical support systems to energise the rank and file of the party. He described himself as a “pure grassroots person” who understands the challenges facing polling station executives and electoral area coordinators.

The aspiring vice chairman brings a diverse professional background to the contest. He is a marketing strategist, management consultant and adjunct lecturer, as well as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG). His political experience includes service with UCC TESCON and as a polling station executive.

KOD emphasised that his academic grounding in research, science and data-driven decision-making would enable him to introduce strategic planning and evidence-based approaches to party organisation at the constituency level.

He also highlighted his philanthropic record, including the provision of scholarships, job opportunities and support for vulnerable individuals within the constituency. According to him, strengthening welfare structures within the party will be key to building loyalty and sustaining electoral success.

His declaration adds a new dimension to the internal contest in AOB, as the constituency prepares to reorganise its leadership ahead of the next general election.

KOD has appealed to delegates to entrust him with the mandate, promising what he describes as “a new era of responsive and visionary leadership” for the party in the constituency.
