Senyo Amekplenu, a National Communications Team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of creating fear and panic for Ken Ofori-Atta, saying the party’s posture is discouraging him from returning to Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Channel 247’s Breakfast 247 with host Zipporah Osei Boateng, Amekplenu argued that if Ken Ofori-Atta had fully recuperated, he would have returned home by now, but the actions and communication style of the NDC and the government are causing anxiety.
“If he knows very well that he has recuperated enough, he should come back to Ghana. However, the attitude and the doings of the NDC or the government is causing fear and panic to the man,” he stated.
Amekplenu criticised what he described as excessive media commentary by government officials on the matter, noting that several spokespersons and senior officials, including the Deputy Attorney-General, have been making public pronouncements across multiple platforms.
He cautioned that such an approach could worsen tensions and intimidate individuals involved, urging the government to tone down its public relations strategy.
According to him, sensitive matters should be handled quietly and diplomatically rather than being amplified through continuous media engagements.
“We should tone down and handle this case in a diplomatic manner. We don’t have to be on top of the roof blowing jazz for everybody to know,” Amekplenu added.
