Former Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Bryan Acheampong, has begun his campaign tour in the Kusaug Traditional Area as part of efforts to build support ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The campaign tour saw Mr Acheampong and his team engage party delegates and executives in Pusiga, Garu, Tempane, Binduri and the Zebila Constituency, where he outlined his vision for uniting the party and positioning it for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Addressing delegates during the engagements, spokesperson for the Acheampong campaign, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide, underscored the importance of unity among party members and aspirants. He urged supporters to shun violence and commit to supporting whoever emerges victorious after the internal contest.
According to him, the presidential primary is an internal democratic process that requires collective responsibility and maturity. He called on delegates to turn out in large numbers on January 31 to cast their votes, adding that Mr Achampong remains the best candidate to lead the NPP to electoral success in 2028.
Residents and party elders in the Kusaug Traditional Area welcomed Mr Acheampong warmly, pledging their endorsement for his candidacy. A local party elder said the area had assessed all the aspirants and was convinced that Mr Achampong stands out as a unifying leader who does not engage in divisive politics.
“He is not selective and relates well with everyone. We believe he is the one who can rescue the NPP and lead the party back to power in 2028,” the elder noted.
Mr Acheampong’s visit is being described by political observers as a significant boost to his campaign, particularly as he becomes the first presidential aspirant to tour the Kusaug Traditional Area. His campaign team expressed confidence that his message of unity and inclusiveness will resonate strongly with delegates.
The NPP presidential election is slated for January 31, 2026, with several candidates contesting for the party’s top position.
