Political communications and marketing specialist, Dr. Bernard Tutu-Boahene, has described the endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by 118 former New Patriotic Party parliamentary aspirants as a positive boost to his campaign.
Speaking on Channel 247’s 247 Newsroom Live with host Awuraabena Boateng, Dr. Tutu-Boahene said the support coming from the former aspirants adds value to Dr. Bawumia’s existing support base within the party.
According to him, politics is about mobilising support and sustaining it through effective organisation, and the endorsement signals growing momentum for the Bawumia campaign ahead of the party’s internal contest.
Dr. Tutu-Boahene explained that the backing could influence undecided delegates, particularly those who have not yet firmed up their decisions and may be inclined to align with what they perceive as a winning team.
He noted that the influence of some of the former aspirants in their constituencies could also help swing votes in favour of Dr. Bawumia, despite public concerns about their previous electoral outcomes.
However, the political analyst cautioned that the endorsement must be backed by serious grassroots work, urging the endorsers to actively campaign in their constituencies rather than merely declaring support.
Dr. Tutu-Boahene added that with about 23 days to go, coordinated efforts at the constituency level would be key to translating the endorsements into real electoral gains.
